The EU Action Plan toward a Zero Pollution Ambition is a key action of the European Green Deal scheduled for spring 2021. It will help to create a toxic-free environment across the EU by better monitoring, reporting, and by preventing and remedying pollution from air, water, soil, and consumer products. It will also support the post-COVID 19 recovery by helping to rebuild a more sustainable EU economy, creating job opportunities and reducing social inequalities. The European Green Week 2021 will be dedicated to the ‘zero pollution ambition’.

The German Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers, in cooperation with the Steering Committee for Human Rights, will hold a high-level online workshop on the topic “Environment, Human Rights and Business: a framework for addressing environmental protection challenges” on 27 April 2021 from 9:00 to 13:30 via the KUDO videoconference platform. The workshop will raise awareness on the intersection of environment protection, human rights and business responsibilities.

The 5th European Climate Change Adaptation Conference (ECCA 2021) takes place from 25 May to 22 June 2021. A series of 9 webinars is organised from 25 May to 10 June, in the run-up to a high-level event on 22 June.

This summit will provide a platform for government representatives to share perspectives, experiences, and lessons learned on integrated climate strategies that simultaneously take into consideration both low-carbon development and adaptation actions to growing climate risks. The virtual peer learning summit consists of three interrelated sessions taking place on the following dates:

The Conference Climate Science from Space: Synergies for a greener innovation economy is organised within the frame of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher education, with the support of the European Commission. The conference will address topics of major relevance to the Societal Challenge ‘Climate Action’.
