The 7th Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET- Plan) Conference will take place in Rome on the 10th and 11th December2014. The SET-Plan is an initiative of the European Commission – namely, DG Energy (ENER), DG Research and Innovation (RTD) and DG Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the three Directors chairing the SET Plan Steering Group, Ms Donnelly (DG ENER), Mr Siegler (DG (RTD) and Mr De Santi (JRC), intervened at the launch event.The 2014 SET-Plan conference falls at a crucial time, when momentum is gathering towards ambitious targets for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, an increased share of renewables and enhanced energy efficiency, as a means to ensure the security of energy supply, improve Europe's competitiveness and advance towards a low-carbon economy.Building an integrated energy system that responds to these challenges is precisely the main objective of the SET Plan, and the two-day Conference in Rome will bring together the European Commission and Government representatives, the Research community, Industry and the Business community at large, in a public-private debate meant to reflect and discuss how to accelerate the development and deployment of cost-effective low-carbon technologies.The SET Plan Conference 2014 will focus in particular on the ongoing process to define an Integrated Roadmap for the SET Plan and its implementation through an Action Plan. To attend the SET-Plan Conference 2014, please register on www.setplan2014.it
