Modernisation of small and medium-sized European cities with smart and sustainable measures – the present challenges and future prospects

Description: 

The event will give EU stakeholders in urban development the opportunity to share their experience in the development and implementation of urban policies. Panellists and participants will analyse the EU approach, the ways in which it addresses the needs and specific characteristics of different territories and contexts (capital cities versus small and medium-sized ones, for example), to facilitate a greater impact and mutually-reinforcing results between different types of ESIF actions expected to take place at the local and regional levels in the period 2014-2020. The event will focus on examples of good practice (such as CITYKEYS, EFFECT and Iasi Urban Growth Pole Romania) reflected already in the EU regions with support from EU and regional operational programmes and projects.  The discussion will be followed by a networking session, intended to be a platform for developing new project ideas and identifying partners for future joint actions.Target audience:- EU, national, regional and local policy/decision makers- Authorities managing and evaluating cohesion policy programmes and projects- Other stakeholders: private companies, financial institutions, European and national associations- Academics, students and researchers
