You have surely heard yesterday’s breaking news about the confirmation of one of Einstein’s key predictions in his theory of relativity. The even better news is that EU-backed researchers proved him right! Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellows detected gravitational waves, or ripples in the fabric of space-time, caused by the collision of two black holes. The GraWiToN project, co-responsible for this breakthrough, is an Initial Training Network, funded under the FP7 Marie Curie Actions, in which 14 EU-supported young researchers participate (please see Cordis fiche attached). The researchers were involved in the data analysis and the technological development necessary for this much-awaited scientific milestone. The Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellows working on the project come from host institutions in France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom.
