Presenting the 2nd editionGenome Engineering and Synthetic Biology are revolutionizing Life Sciences. Driven by advances in the CRISPR-toolbox for rapid, cheap, multiplex modification of genomes and breakthroughs in DNA synthesis technologies, the pace of progress enabled by these tools in the last 2 years has been breathtaking. The 1st Genome Engineering and Synthetic Biology: Tools and Technologies meeting (GESB) in September 2013 was a roaring success and we are pleased to announce the 2nd edition of GESB in January, 2016. The symposium will bring together some of the most highly regarded Academics and Companies in the world with novel technologies in several sessions, with topics focused on:
- CRISPR and Synthetic Biology Tools
- Gene and Genome assembly
- CRISPR for re-engineering cellular systems
- Future CRISPR applications
- Expanding the Genetic Code
In addition to a great scientific and technology program, the conference will provide ample opportunities to network during the breaks, poster sessions, the conference dinner and our ‘Meet the Expert’ session!‘Meet the Expert’ session with MIT Prof Christopher VoigtWe offer all junior researchers an opportunity to join speaker Christopher Voigt in a 'Meet the Expert' session during the conference. You will have the opportunity to ask any question/advise/feedback related to your research project/your research during an informal round table discussion. If you are interested in joining the session then send an e-mail to conferences@vib.be and let us know. Seating is very limited so make sure to reserve a spot soon!Precision Genome Engineering Training Day on January 27, 2016 in Ghent, BelgiumThe conference is preceded by a day of training, organized by Training at VIB, focused on precision genome engineering. The focus of this training is specifically on the practical use of the technology and on experiences gained applying genome engineering technologies in the lab. Registration and more info on the training day can be found on the training website.
