Description:

The Digital Regulation Forum will mark its 10th year in 2016. London will once again play host to the most exciting and relevant conference in Europe.

Digital regulations is at a key moment with the review of the regulatory framework well under way, we are sure to expect some interesting discussions and updates from the policy makers and regulators as well as the opinions and concerns of the operator community, come April.

The 10th Annual Digital Regulation Forum will once again host some of the most influential and knowledgeable speakers, leading discussions on a host of topics. The event will also give delegates a unique opportunity to network as well as learn, with a VIP Breakfast Briefing, hosted lunch table discussions and a VIP Cocktail reception. If you would like more information on how you can be a part of these networking opportunities please contact Leah Williams, Head of VIP Relations.

But of course, the main reason to be part of the Europe’s most important regulatory forum is to hear from the leaders on the key topics and issues surrounding the telecom industry. Here is a snippet of who and what to expect over the two days of conversation:

DG Connect – The review of the regulatory framework for electronic communications networks & services

The current Regulatory Framework was designed to liberalize the traditional telecommunications markets, support market entry and to open access to infrastructures. It is broadly acknowledged that, in order to sustain further innovation and a new cycle of new investments on Europe, a rethinking of the scope of rules, particularly those providing for ex ante market regulation is needed.

Ofcom – A focus on national silo’s – Perspectives from Regulators

What is the perspective of National Regulators on the European review of telecom rules? What lessons can be taken from the implementation of rules in the past years in terms of harmonization?

DG Comp & UK CMA – The end of mobile consolidation? M&A operations in the telecommunications sector, what’s next?

The panel will critically examine the merger and acquisition scenario in the telecom industry in the EU and the likely policy changes that will guide market regulation in the future.

5G- Cooperation between EU and China, and the launch of 5G?

China is likely to be a major player in the development of 5G and also potentially the world’s largest market for 5G technologies, products and services. China will also have a substantial role in establishing a 5G global standard. In the agreement signed 28 September 2015, China and the EU, both parties commit to work together to develop a common vision on 5G, on R&D, use of spectrum and standard
