Webinar

Description:

10 December 2020, 13:00–14:00 CET (12:00–13:00 GMT), Copenhagen, DenmarkLoneliness is a major public health issue, and one that has been brought into stark relief by the COVID-19 pandemic. Although frequently associated with older people, surveys consistently show that some of the highest levels of loneliness exist among young people. For many, loneliness is experienced during periods of transition that are commonly heralded as key markers of independence – such as when they first move away from the family home to discover the new world of work or higher education. Can a better understanding of culture help institutions, families and young people find a solution that works for them?Join us for the upcoming Culture and Health webinar to explore the cultural contexts of loneliness in young people. The webinar panel will be moderated by Felicity Thomas, Co-director of the WHO Collaborating Centre on Culture and Health. Members of the panel will include:

  • Fred Cooper, Research Fellow, Wellcome Centre for Cultures and Environments of Health at the University of Exeter (United Kingdom);
  • Lina Zakrisson, Founder of Ensamhetsrevolutionen (Loneliness Revolution), Stockholm (Sweden);
  • Vivian Barnekow, freelance consultant, formerly Programme Manager, Child and Adolescent Health, WHO/Europe, Copenhagen (Denmark).

The webinar will be live streamed via the link below. Online audiences can interact and ask questions by going to https://www.sli.do and entering the event code #whoch.
