Six leading international artists will be hosted within Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) projects to collaborate in areas such as quantum physics, supercomputing, robotics and life sciences.
The aim of this 'cultural exchange' is to explore cutting-edge science from a different angle in order to stimulate societal discussions and reach out to new audiences for FET research. An exhibition on the resulting artworks is foreseen after the nine-month residence period.
Out of over 260 applications six residencies were given to the following artist: Anna Dumitriu (UK), Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt (UK), Evelina Domnitch & Dimitry Gelfand (Belarus/Russia), Pinar Yoldas (Turkey), Špela Petrič & Miha Turšič (Slovenia) and Vicky Isley & Paul Smith (UK).
These artists will be working closely with the FET projects MRG-Grammar, QuProCS, RySQ, DIACAT, INTERTWINE, MANGO, and subCULTron.
For the artists that were not chosen, alternative ways of teaming up with FET scientists are currently explored.
Further information on this initiative is available on the website of the EU-funded FEAT project.
